Fourth Annual Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo 2015 Features New 25-Minute Sessions and MySQL 101 Program

DURHAM, NC--(Marketwired - Feb 3, 2015) -   Percona, the company that makes MySQL and OpenStack faster and more reliable, today published exciting updates to the conference schedule for the fourth annual Percona Live MySQL Conference & Expo 2015 to be held April 13-16, 2015, at The Hyatt Regency Santa Clara and Santa Clara Convention Center. The schedule updates include new 25-minute talks and a new MySQL 101 program designed to give developers and sys admins a foundational primer on MySQL DBA tools, techniques and best practices. The company also issued a call for papers for the conference's Lightning Talks and Birds of a Feather sessions, and announced that advanced pricing discounts will end on March 8, 2015. A New Program: MySQL 101
MySQL 101 is an exciting new program that will take place on Wednesday and Thursday of the conference. Hand-picked instructors will walk developers, sys admins and other technical staff through two days of practical training and include everything they need to know to handle day-to-day MySQL DBA tasks, saving the company time and money and eliminating expensive errors. The motto of this track is, "You send us developers and admins, and we will send you back MySQL DBAs."

Birds of a Feather
Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions enable attendees with interests in the same project or topic to enjoy some quality face time. BOFs can be organized for individual projects or broader topics (e.g., best practices, open data, standards). Any attendee or conference speaker can propose and moderate an engaging BOF. Percona will post the selected topics and moderators online and provide a meeting space and time. The BOF sessions will be held Tuesday night, April 14, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The deadline for BOF submissions is February 13, 2015.

Lightning Talks
Lightning Talks provide an opportunity for attendees to propose, explain, exhort, or rant on any MySQL-related topic for five minutes. Topics might include a new idea, successful project, cautionary story, quick tip, or demonstration. All submissions will be reviewed, and the top 10 will be selected to present during the one-hour Lightning Talks session on Wednesday, April 15, during the Community Networking Reception. Lighthearted, fun or otherwise entertaining submissions are highly welcome. The deadline for submitting a Lightning Talk topic is February 13, 2015.

The Hyatt Regency Santa Clara is the best place to stay and enjoy all conference activities, including receptions, Birds of a Feather, and Lightning Talks. Attendees have been known to mingle at the Hyatt bar throughout the afternoon and long into the evening.
