FOX-TEK Announces Appointment Of New Officer

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 13, 2005) - Fiber Optic Systems Technology, Inc. (the "Company" or "FOX-TEK")(TSX VENTURE:FOX), a developer of patented fiber optic sensing products, today announced that J. Douglas Young has joined the Company part-time as Executive Vice President.

Mr. Young will be responsible for building the North American sales organization for FOX-TEK.

"The addition of Doug strengthens FOX-TEK's management team as we continue to commercialize our technology," said Gary Jolly, FOX-TEK's President and CEO. "Doug's experience in steering companies from formation to maturity will be invaluable as we continue to grow".

Prior to FOX-TEK, Mr. Young spent 18 years in senior executive positions at Hiram Walker & Sons, including separate tenures as President of both the Canadian and International divisions. Mr. Young then became the founder and managing partner of Cygnal Technologies, a leading developer of Canadian electronic communications networks listed on the TSX. Mr. Young retired from Cygnal in 2002; during his stewardship the company's revenue grow from $15 million to $150 million. Currently Mr. Young sits on the board of Trent University as well as the FOX-TEK board.

Mr. Young's compensation includes a grant of 100,000 options which vest over the next six months. These options have an exercise price of $3.10 per share and may be exercised on or before September 12, 2010.
