FOX-TEK Presents Research Conducted With NASA at Stanford University Conference

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 19, 2005) - Fiber Optic Systems Technology, Inc. (the "Company" or "FOX-TEK")(TSX VENTURE:FOX), a developer of patented fiber optic sensing products, today announced that Dr. R.C. Tennyson, Chief Scientific Advisor for FOX-TEK, presented a paper co-authored by Dr. Eric Christiansen of NASA's Johnson Space Center, at the 5th International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring, held at Stanford University, Stanford, CA. The paper, entitled "Application of Fiber Optic Sensors for Impact Damage Detection on Spacecraft", describes the design and testing of a new fiber optic impact damage detection system for spacecraft and other infrastructure.

The paper reflects the continuation of the Company's relationship with NASA, which includes the operational testing of newly developed smart materials. In addition to spacecraft applications, the Company sees further commercial applications emanating from its collaborative efforts with NASA for its primary oil and gas markets, where metal fatigue and stress cracks are serious problems that could be addressed by the technology.

"FOX-TEK's involvement with NASA testifies to the high level of the Company's scientific abilities" said Gary Jolly, FOX-TEK President and CEO. "It is also evidence that our fiber optic technology is suitable for a wide array of industries".
