Frame Media Enters Wireless Digital Picture Frame Market

Company Brings Frames to Life With Customizable Content Network

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 17, 2007 --

Frame Media ( today announced its entrance into the wireless digital picture frame market and its commitment to bringing its partners' wireless frames to life by developing content, tools and community for users to select, access and share content. Using real simple syndication (RSS) technology and their Web-based application, FrameChannel (, the company will aggregate a variety of content and allow users to subscribe to and create their own personalized content channels.

Users will be able to update their frame from a library of over 200 channels of content including image streams, news and weather feeds and text-based channels. Other FrameChannel capabilities include uploading and managing photos, inviting friends to submit photos from the web or from any camera phone, overlaying text onto photos, sending e-greeting cards to friends and family, creating group content channels, and the incorporation of images referenced in other RSS feeds.

Frame Media seeks to capitalize on the growth in the digital picture frame industry, increased Wi-Fi connectivity and the dropping prices and increasing quality of LCD flat screens. According to Parks Associates, the global market for digital picture frames is expected to exceed 12 million units by 2010. With Frame Media, consumers will for the first time, have a dynamic solution to provide customized content to their wireless picture frames and an otherwise static object becomes a new-age communications tool.

Additionally, this spring, Frame Media will unveil a screen saver to allow users to turn their PC or Mac into a picture frame by creating, customizing and subscribing to content channels using FrameChannel. The screen saver launch is in anticipation of a wider-scale launch through partnerships with wireless digital picture frame manufacturers later this year.

In further support of their entrance into this market, Frame Media launched in January, dedicated to covering the emergence of the digital frame industry.

"While wireless digital picture frames have been on the market for a few years, they have yet to reach their full potential as connectivity tools. Frame Media will provide users the first easy-to-use community interface, allowing them to personalize their frame with their own photos along with a wealth of interesting content channels. We expect there to be a wide variety of wireless frames hitting the market this year from multiple manufacturers. It is our goal to work with all of them by creating great tools, offering a wealth of content and supporting open Web 2.0 standards such as RSS." -- Alan Phillips, Co-Founder of Frame Media.
