The CEO Award of Excellence in Public Relations was awarded today to Frances Lankin, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Toronto, by the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) at a gala luncheon at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.

The CPRS (Toronto) CEO Award of Excellence in Public Relations was created in 1991 to celebrate the Chief Executive Officer in the Greater Toronto area who best demonstrates personal excellence in the understanding and implementation of public relations practices.

"When Frances Lankin speaks, everybody listens," says CEO Award Chair and founder Dr. Gordon McIvor, APR, FCPRS, Vice President, Strategic Acquisitions, Public and Government Affairs, Canada Lands Company. "As the leader of United Way of Greater Toronto since 2001, she has communicated her passion for social justice and mobilized Torontonians behind a vision of a better and brighter future for their city."

"I am thrilled to receive this award and am grateful to the public relations community for this honour and recognition," says Frances Lankin, President and CEO, United Way of Greater Toronto. "Raising public understanding of our city's most pressing issues is a critical part of United Way's work in the community. Bringing people from across the city together around our shared challenges means more voices at the table getting to work, finding solutions. Ultimately, that makes Toronto a better city for all of us."
