Franchise Services of North America Inc. Announces Third Quarter Results for the Period Ending June 30, 2011, New Ontario Franchise

Continued Improvement in Insurance Market Creates Favorable Trends

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 26, 2011) - FRANCHISE SERVICES OF NORTH AMERICA INC. (TSX VENTURE:FSN) ("FSNA" or the "Company") announced today its third quarter results for the period ended June 30, 2011. Revenue and the net loss for the three months ended June 30, 2011 were $3.9 million and $22,775 respectively, as compared to revenue of $4.0 million and a net loss of $191,839 for three months ended June 30, 2010.

The Company also announced the sale of the Elliot Lake, Ontario franchise under the Practicar brand. The transaction was completed after the end of the third quarter, thus the financial results of the transaction are not included in the reported quarter.

Bob Barton, the Company's President and Chief Operating Officer, stated, "We are quite pleased with the improvement in the quarterly results as compared to the prior year. While we continue to experience some unanticipated incremental run-off claims from the insurance portfolio that was moved to a first dollar program, overall the Company has performed in line with our own internal expectations. Without these run-off claims, the Company would have been profitable for the quarter. Franchise sales activity has been challenging as of late, as the company seeks to expand its airport and neighborhood presence. Candidates are continuing to find challenges in the credit markets to obtain adequate fleet financing. We are, however, very pleased to announce the addition of the Elliot Lake, Ontario franchisee to our Practicar system in Canada. Our insurance book of business is trending favorably and the results from our new professional liability program, where we act as the Managing General Agent for the program, have continued to exceed our initial expectations."
