Franek Technologies Promotes Raymond L. Hecker to General Manager; Positioned to Grow Company as Premier Laboratory Supplier

With Over 25 Years of Experience in the Medical Devices, Healthcare, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical Industries, Hecker Is Positioned as General Manager to Grow Company Focusing on Large-Scale Laboratory Applications

TUSTIN, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 18, 2006 -- Franek Technologies, Inc., the leader in certified Category III-3 Laboratory Battery Backup Power Protection Systems (LPS/UPS), has promoted Raymond L. Hecker to Vice President and General Manager. In this position, Hecker will manage all aspects of company operations, with special emphasis on growing the company's market position as a premier supplier of laboratory support equipment. With an increase in sales in 2006 of 25%, Franek Technologies continues to focus on large-scale applications for high-end analytical instruments, such as Mass Spectrometers (MS), Gas Chromatography (GC), Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography (U-HPLC), and genetic/proteomic sequence detection systems. Globally, Franek Technologies will grow its presence in regions with burgeoning technology, including Europe, South America, and China, with the goal of providing the same level of superior support internationally that has made the company a market leader in North America.

According to John Franek, President and CEO of Franek Technologies, Hecker has the Fortune 500 business experience, technical and advanced business degrees, laboratory expertise, and talent to lead Franek Technologies into the future. Through his over 25 years of experience in global business development, sales, and marketing for the healthcare, medical devices, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries, Hecker knows exactly what laboratories need to solve any and all power-related problems. Hecker understands the importance of managing electrical power as a critical utility, as the consequences of unconditioned electrical power within a laboratory can be paralyzing and very costly.

Under Hecker's direction, Franek Technologies has created a user-friendly web site with its unique online database containing over 1,500 instruments representing more than 80 OEMs that allows the Franek Technologies engineering team, as well as website visitors, to quickly determine the appropriate pre-certified Franek Technologies' power protection solution for specific instruments. OEMs represented include Agilent, Applied Biosystems, Beckman-Coulter, Dionex, PerkinElmer, Roche, Solexa, and ThermoFisher. Since its inception in 2002, this database has become a key resource for the laboratory and instrumentation community to manage laboratory power as a critical utility.

"2006 has been a banner year for us at Franek Technologies," states Raymond L. Hecker, VP and General Manager, Franek Technologies. "Our cutting-edge work with New York's new Forensic Biology DNA Laboratory and Thermo Fischer, as well as being Solexa's choice to protect its new 1G Genome Analyzer and Cluster Creator, and the addition of a new distributor in Venezuela are among our many recent accomplishments. As General Manager, I will develop our superb team to grow market share through continued delivery of superior service and support. We have already initiated our ISO 9000 quality system program, which we will announce upon certification in 2007."

Hecker joined Franek Technologies in 2001 as VP of Business Development, where he led the division with primary responsibilities for new business development and strategic planning. Prior to joining Franek Technologies, Hecker served as Director of International Business Development for Amaxis, Inc., Quintiles Transnational Corporation (QTRN). Before Amaxis, Hecker served as Director of Business Development and Key Account Sales for Medical Data International (MDI). Within the medical device industry, Hecker has also served in leadership positions at Roche/Boehringer Mannheim Corporation and Nihon Kohden America, Inc. Additionally, he was the Manager of International Sales and Business Development for Baxter Healthcare in the medical devices and diagnostics sector. Hecker holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and an Aerospace Engineering degree with postgraduate work from the University of Illinois.
