Free AAA Car Care Inspections Can Help Motorists Save at the Pump

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - May 16, 2008) - AAA Texas and Lamb's Tire and Automotive Centers are teaming up Tuesday, May 20 to offer Austin motorists a free automotive maintenance inspection which can help ensure that motorists get the best possible mileage from their vehicle.

The inspections are being offered a week prior to the Memorial Holiday which traditionally kicks-off the start of the summer travel season. "With motorists facing record high gas prices, motorists are looking for ways to increase their fuel efficiency and cut down on trips to the pump," said Pat O'Reilly, AAA Texas Approved Auto Repair Manager. "One of the most effective ways motorists can do this is to make sure that their car is properly maintained."

Teams of automotive technicians, including AAA master technicians, will be conducting the FREE inspections from 4 to 7 PM TUESDAY, May 20 in the Lamb's Tire and Automotive parking lot at two locations:

-- 290 West and Brodie Lane (South Austin)
-- 501 North Bell Boulevard in Cedar Park

The systems these technicians will be inspecting include belts, hoses, filters and fluid levels. Motorists will receive a form showing the results of the inspection.

"One of the most common problems that we see during these inspections is under inflated tires," said O'Reilly. "Typically under inflated tires can lower gas mileage by as much as 3 percent." The first 100 motorists that have their vehicle inspected at each of those locations will receive a free tire gauge.

This event celebrates Lamb's new relationship with AAA. The 14 area Lamb's Tire and Automotive shops have earned the approval of the AAA Approved Auto Repair program. "Earning this approval demonstrates our continued commitment to maintaining high standards and providing quality service for the motoring public," said John Lamb Sr., President and CEO of Lamb's Tire and Automotive Centers.
