Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation (NYSE: COG) shares increased 1.91 percent on volume of 2.66 million shares traded Thursday to close at $68.20 a share. The company reported net income more than doubled to $42.8 million, or $0.20 per share, for the first quarter of 2013, compared to a net income of $18.3 million or $0.09 per shares a year ago.

Fusion-IO, Inc. (NYSE: FIO) shares spiked 17.29 percent on more than six times the average daily volume Thursday to close at $19.46 a share. The company has forecasted revenues of $110 million for the fiscal fourth quarter, which topped the average analyst estimate of $107.3 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
