Swift Transportation Co. (NYSE: SWFT) shares spiked 7.87 percent on volume of 3.47 million shares traded Friday to close at $16.03 a share. The trucking company reported a profit of $23.3 million, or $0.17 a share, for the first quarter of 2013, a sharp increase from a profit of $6.2 million, or $0.04 a share, a year ago.
