Corel today announced the release of the second free update for Corel® Painter™ 12, the world's most powerful digital art studio. Built with the creative needs of the Painter community in mind, Painter 12.2 offers progressive new art forms and allows users to keep their eyes on their art. With new flow maps, users have more control over how paint collects and dries within the peaks and valleys of the canvas. Multi-touch support for Wacom Intuos5 touch pen tablets and Cintiq 24HD touch interactive pen displays provides a direct way to manipulate the canvas, much like working with paper. Painter 12.2 also includes vertical docking, which gives more flexibility to users when they're choosing which position is most convenient to dock their palettes.

For Avid Painter Users, Painter 12.2 Further Enhances the Creative Experience

"The new flow map capabilities in Painter 12.2 have added a whole new dimension of artistic control that I frankly can't do anywhere else," said Painter Master, Skip Allen. "I am amazed by the paint flowing into my custom paper and flow map image ridges. Adding flow maps to real watercolor in Corel Painter 12.2 enhances the painting process and is so much fun to watch."

  • New! Flow maps: Maximize the creative potential of the Real Watercolor and Real Wet Oil brushes by adding flow maps to help direct the flow of paint, producing less saturation at the peaks of textures and more saturation in the valleys
  • New! Vertical docking: Dock palettes to the vertical edge of the application window by simply dragging and dropping
  • New! Multi-touch support for Wacom Intuos5 touch pen tablets and Cintiq 24HD touch interactive pen displays: Perform movements such as panning, spinning and pinching, in order to work closely with the canvas and stay focused on the art instead of hunting for quick keys or buttons

"Emulating traditional media digitally is not just about the pen tool in your hand, but the paper, canvas or object you are working with," said Scott Rawlings, Vice President of Marketing for Wacom Technology Corp. "Together, Wacom and Corel continue to demonstrate their pioneering spirit by creating natural user interfaces that allow artists to use both hands interactively and feel totally connected to the creative process."
