Freedom from Hunger Names Trustmark Companies' J. Grover Thomas Jr. as Chair of Its Board of Trustees

Serving Three-Quarters of a Million Families in 16 Countries

DAVIS, CA--(Marketwire - November 13, 2007) - Freedom from Hunger, an international development organization, named J. Grover Thomas Jr. as Chair of its Board of Trustees. The group provides micro-loans, education in business management, health and nutrition, and access to health products and services to 754,000 women in 16 countries. Freedom from Hunger is one of Worth Magazine's "100 Best Charities in America."

Thomas, who is also Chair of the Board of The Trustmark Companies, has been a Trustee of Freedom from Hunger since 2005. His four-year term as Chair of the Board starts immediately.

Thomas serves as spokesperson and networker and contributes business expertise and strategic advice to champion Freedom from Hunger's innovative solutions to global chronic hunger.

"Freedom from Hunger has inspired me to devote my energy and emotion to its mission," said Thomas. "It made me search my heart about the gap between the 'haves' and 'have nots' in the world." Thomas plans to visit Bolivia, India and the Philippines to see Freedom from Hunger's Credit with Education and other distinctive program strategies in action.

"When Grover became a Trustee of Freedom from Hunger in 2005, he was an instant leader. It is unusual to elect a relatively new member as Chair of the Board, but Grover has the 'right stuff,'" said Chris Dunford, Freedom from Hunger President. "He brings a passion and energy to our cause, and has the rare ability to engage with staff and to inspire fellow Trustees to action."
