Freewest Provides an Update on its Windfall Property, Northwestern Quebec

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 14, 2006) - Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (TSX VENTURE:FWR) today announces that it is contemplating in early 2007, additional field work at the Windfall property in north-western Quebec, where Noront Resources Ltd. (NOT: TSX-V) has recently intersected a spectacular new mineralized zone, grading 1327.9 g/t over 4.80 metres (see Noront Press Release dated December 01, 2006.

The discovery is hosted by a strong NE-trending structure readily visible on ground geophysical maps that extends onto the Freewest/Murgor Windfall property. The joint-venture tested the structure in 2006 with two drill holes at one locality, approximately 1.5 kilometres to the NE. Specks of visible gold were observed in the drill core and best grades returned 1.0 g/t Au over 1.0 metre.

Maps showing the location of the new Noront gold discovery in relation to the Windfall property accompany this press release and are posted on the Freewest website at www.freewest.com.

The Windfall Property comprises 214 mining claims covering an area of 8,995 hectares and is held 50% by Freewest and 50% by Murgor Resources Inc. (MUG: TSX-V). To date, 15,967 meters of drilling have been completed at the Windfall Property where three gold zones (F-11, F-17 and F-51) have been defined to date on NE-trending structures parallel to that of Noront's new discovery. Longitudinal sections of these three gold zones can also be viewed at www.murgor.com.

Freewest Management continues to be extremely enthusiastic about the Windfall property. Down plunge extensions of both the F-17 and F-51 Zones remain open and now, several kilometres of the very prospective structure hosting the new Noront discovery, remain untested.

Gold analyses reported in this release were performed by standard 30g fire assay with AA finish and assays were performed by ALS Chemex Laboratories, in Val D'Or, Qc.
