Freewest Reports Additional Drill Results From the East Zone at Clarence Stream, New Brunswick

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA--(CCNMatthews - March 27, 2007) - Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (TSX VENTURE:FWR) (the "Company") today announces the balance of results obtained from recently completed diamond drilling of the East Zone, on the Company's Clarence Stream gold property. The initial results from the East Zone drilling were reported in an earlier news release dated February 28, 2007. The 100%-owned Property consists of 11,296 hectares and is well located close to infrastructure, 70 kilometres southwest of Fredericton in south-western New Brunswick.

Highlighting the latest results, is an intersection assaying 20.76 g/t gold over 2.00 metres, in drill hole CS07-244. Earlier pending drill holes CS07-241 to CS07-243 inclusive, returned sub-ore grade mineralization over narrow widths. The significant drill results are as follows:

Hole No. nates From To Interval Gold
(metres) Dip (metres) (metres) (metres) (g/t)(i) Comments
CS07-244 L2000E, -45 degrees 66.00 68.00 2.00 20.76 Visible

CS07-251 L2150E, -60 degrees 109.00 109.50 0.50 7.11
CS07-252 L2125E, -45 degrees 51.50 53.50 2.00 3.70

(i) Assays performed by ALS Chemex of Val d'Or, Quebec using the fire
assay method using 30 grams of prepared sample

To date, the East Zone has been drill tested over a 700 metre strike length, a maximum depth of 100 vertical metres and remains completely open-ended along strike and to depth. The drilling reveals a number of discrete northeast-plunging shoots that contain ore-grade gold values over mineable widths (see longitudinal section of the East Zone). Diamond drilling will continue at the East Zone at greater depths to further refine the geometry of the gold zones and most importantly, to build on the gold resource.

A longitudinal section of the East Zone accompanies this news release and is posted on the Freewest Resources Canada Inc.'s website at

The AD Zone is the most advanced and largest of the distal gold deposits discovered to date on the Clarence Stream property. The AD Zone contains an Indicated Mineral Resource of 6,395,000 pounds of antimony in addition to 44,000 ounces of gold. It currently remains open down-plunge.

Preliminary metallurgical test work performed on a representative sample from the AD Zone has returned greater than an 80% recovery rate for gold in conventional cyanide leaching tests. A one-hundred and twenty (120) kilogram representative sample of diamond drill core from the AD Zone was sent to CANMET Mineral Technology Branch of Natural Resources Canada for this purpose. It is anticipated that with further testing, gold recoveries will improve to greater than 90%. Upon completion of the gold recovery tests, similar tests on the AD Zone will be completed for the recovery of antimony as a significant by-product to the gold.

In other news, Freewest has signed an addendum to its property option agreement dated October 6, 2005 with Luciano Vendittelli and John Gartner in respect of its Beauce Platinum-Gold Property (see press release of December 9, 2005). Under the addendum, Freewest will issue 100,000 common shares to the vendors in satisfaction of the requirements due on the first anniversary of the option agreement, as well as in order to extend the option agreement for an additional six-month period. All of the other terms and conditions of the letter of intent date October 6, 2005 remain unchanged.

The Company also wishes to report that the Aerobus uranium property acquisition in northwestern Ontario (see Freewest news release of February 28, 2007) was in error. Upon the Company's contractors visiting the site for the purpose of claim staking, it was discovered that the Aerobus occurrence and surrounding area had already been staked. Freewest regrets any inconvenience this may have caused to any parties in this regard.

Glen Lutes, P. Geo. (New Brunswick) is the qualified person on-site at the Clarence Stream property. Donald Hoy, P. Geo. (Ontario), Vice President of Exploration and a Director of Freewest Resources Canada Inc. is responsible for the preparation of this news release.
