Fresco Wins LG Innotek's 2011 Global Television Tuner Business

LGIT's Mainstream Tuner Modules Feature Fresco's Latest Chips

TORONTO--(Marketwire - November 17, 2010) - Fresco Microchip Inc., a developer of leading-edge RF, mixed-signal, and digital signal processing integrated circuits (ICs), today announced that LG Innotek (LGIT), a global leader in the design and manufacture of TV tuner modules, has selected the latest chips from Fresco's industry-leading FM1100 product family for LGIT's 2011 mainstream product lineup. As announced in November 2009, Fresco is currently in volume production in LGIT's global tuners.

"Fresco continues to deliver innovative technology, which offers unmatched price and performance advantages that are well-aligned to our long-term roadmap to expand and grow our share worldwide," said Gil-sang Park, vice president, LG Innotek. "Fresco is a key and strategic partner and we look forward to expanding the use of Fresco chips as an integral part of our latest mainstream tuner module offering."

According to industry estimates, LGIT is the largest tuner supplier in the world. LGIT's tuners are designed into top television brands shipping to major broadcast markets including Europe, North and South America, Asia-Pacific, China and India. LGIT applies a stringent component selection process to minimize product return rates. Selected components must be field proven in some of the most challenging broadcast environments around the world and exceed reliability, performance, cost and time-to-market requirements. LGIT's latest tuner modules feature the company's forward-thinking design, which leverages Fresco's advanced technology, to offer LCD and plasma TV manufacturers the benefits of greater picture clarity while lowering overall system price.

"LG Innotek continues to push the envelope with its next-generation tuner innovations that set the price and performance bar across the industry," said Lance Greggain, CEO, president and co-founder of Fresco Microchip. "We are excited that LG Innotek has selected our latest chips for the second consecutive year and look forward to continuing our long-term partnership."
