Fribi -- The Smart Way to Trade Free Stuff

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 18, 2012) - Have you ever thrown away a nice shirt because the colour was wrong or a book because you've read it and its now covered by dust?

Today Fribi announces their global launch at DEMO Spring 2012. Fribi is a social marketplace that easily lets you give away or swap things you don't need anymore. Totally different from other classifieds players, Fribi focuses on personal relations and will be a community-driven marketplace, making it more fun, social and safe for stuff to change hands.

Fribi connects with your social network. With a simple few clicks you are ready to publish your item, and you can also choose to give away stuff only to selected friends or followers. "We haven't seen this feature in any other product out there, and believe it will contribute to people giving away greater stuff and trading more than before," says Morten Isachsen, CEO and co-founder of Fribi.

With Fribi you also get your own personal feed with stuff friends and people you follow are giving away, kind of like your private feed on Facebook. You can easily request items from others in a safe way by keeping all communication within the app, not leaving personal contact info available before you want to.

To make Fribi even more interesting and generous, the marketplace is also open for local merchants promoting cool giveaways in the neighborhood. Like the hairdresser around the corner that just got a cancellation, or the bakery that has got some leftover bread after a quiet day. Fribi also has its own Perks-section, with exclusive Fribi-user-benefits from major brands. "At the moment we only include brands from Scandinavia, but more brands and countries are on the way. Fribi is not at all a deals market, but we would love to get on board brands who appreciates our users a little extra and treat them with nice benefits," says Isachsen.

Matt Marshall, executive producer of DEMO, says Fribi's ease of use, cool features and social integration make it a game changer. "They've developed a totally new service with world class design and functionality, without any funding," he said. "Very impressive."

Fribi is a free service now available for iOS in the Apple App Store, and they will launch the Android version in Google Play already in May 2012.

The bootstrapped startup Fribi is made by the people behind Jimmy Royal -- a Norwegian interactive agency, with a strong focus on innovation and digital product development.

Produced by the IDG Enterprise events group, the worldwide DEMO conferences focus on emerging technologies and new products innovations, which are hand selected from across the spectrum of the technology marketplace. The DEMO conferences have earned their reputation for consistently identifying cutting-edge technologies and helping entrepreneurs secure venture funding and establish critical business.
