Fried Frank Announces Inaugural Sponsorship of Clinton Global Initiative; First Law Firm to Lend its Support to Global Initiative

NEW YORK--(CCNMatthews - Aug 24, 2005) -

Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced today its sponsorship of the inaugural meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), a project of the William J. Clinton Foundation. This nonpartisan conference, to be held in New York City September 15-17, 2005, will bring together a diverse and select group of current and former heads of state, business leaders, noteworthy academics, and key NGO representatives in a series of dynamic interactive workshops to identify immediate and pragmatic solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems. The group will also develop an agenda for action, which includes a specific commitment to take action in one of the areas of focus of the conference during the coming year. Fried Frank is the first law firm to lend its support to this important initiative.

"I am pleased Fried Frank is a partner in the Clinton Global Initiative. Through committed individuals and organizations, we can achieve concrete results and take real steps towards alleviating poverty, confronting climate changes, enhancing governance, and addressing religion, conflict and reconciliation in our world today," stated President William J. Clinton.

"We look forward to working with other global leaders in the corporate, finance and public arenas supporting this important initiative and to our collaboration on a project in furtherance of the policy ideas to be discussed at the conference," said Valerie Ford Jacob, Fried Frank's Chairperson.

"Fried Frank has always been strongly committed to serving the public interest and to pro bono representation. Our participation in the Clinton Global Initiative presents an opportunity to take real action in a broader community," stated Justin Spendlove, Fried Frank's Managing Partner.

Fried Frank lawyers will join over 600 distinguished attendees in workshops focused on how to reduce poverty; how to use religion for reconciliation and conflict resolution; how to implement new business strategies and technologies to combat climate change; and how to enhance governance, support enterprise and promote investment. The conference will also provide an opportunity for a number of Fried Frank associates to participate as event volunteers.
