Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter Host 9th Annual Black Tie & Tails Gala

Your Attendance Is Requested for This Key Fund-Raising Event for the "Chihuahua Shelter"

DEARBORN, MI--(Marketwire - September 8, 2009) - The Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter extend the "star treatment" to their animal visitors as long as they stay, and at Black Tie & Tails, the adorable adoptables take center stage. So, it seems only appropriate that on Friday, October 16, their ninth annual gala fund-raiser will "Go Hollywood." Black Tie & Tails is the premier fund-raising event "produced" by the Friends and is becoming one of the most unique animal-welfare benefits in Southeast Michigan.

In 2008, more than 250 guests attended and raised $90,000. This year, with your help, the Friends strive to achieve $100,000+, much needed funds for the shelter, now known as the "Chihuahua shelter" for the highly publicized rescue of 105 dogs in July.

This elegant evening for four-footed friends includes: a champagne reception, hors d' oeuvres, dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions, and a full, red-carpet staging area for sponsors and adoptable animals called the Paws Promenade. Special guest stars will be honorary co-chairs Congressman John and Mrs. Debbie Dingell, and Detroit Lions Quarterback Drew Stanton and Mrs. Kristen Stanton.

All Black Tie & Tails proceeds support shelter operations and community- and animal-related programs.

Two featured items in the 2009 live auction include...

1. Four tickets to a performance & results live show of "American Idol"
2. Northern Michigan cottage getaway with VIP tour of Chateau Chantal

Tickets for Black Tie & Tails are $175 per person. The event will take place from 7 p.m. until midnight at the historic Dearborn Inn. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Dearborn Animal Shelter at (313) 943-2697, or on-line at

The Dearborn Animal Shelter is located at 2661 Greenfield Road in Dearborn, and is operated by the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
