Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center: Concerned Jewish Community Hopes for Compassionate Ear From Fellow Torontonians

Spirit of Hope Benefit is the right place to learn more about what it's like to be Jewish in today's world

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 20, 2009) - Being Jewish has never been easy. Today is no exception. With antisemitism and growing intolerances on the rise, many concerned Canadians fear for the well being of Jews around the world, as well as right here in Toronto. In order to address this fear, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center invests time and talent to promote a more tolerant and accepting society here in Canada. The organization is now asking the media and broader community for a little attention and, to the extent possible, a little bit of help.

On May 31st, the Center is holding its annual Spirit of Hope Benefit, a star-studded annual event that raises funds in support of its many educational programs. To appeal to the broadest audience, the event features access to international keynote speakers, presentations from FSWC leadership and a networking opportunity in the company of influential Torontonians. The event offers an opportunity to understand the Jewish perspective on current affairs, and to support the promotion of Holocaust remembrance and tolerance. Tickets are still available starting at $36.

Some of the hardest - but most important - topics of the day will be tackled: the financial crisis; President Obama's version of 'change'; Iran's nuclear and regional ambitions; instability in Pakistan; and the possibilities of peace in the Middle East.
