Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies Supports Government Decision to Tighten Sanctions on Iran

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 30, 2013) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) supports the federal government's decision to tighten sanctions on Iran following the country's repeated failure to engage meaningfully on talks about its nuclear program.

"Despite ongoing efforts by the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency to work with Iran in good faith, the Iranian regime continues to pursue a nuclear program that puts Israel, western democracies and indeed the entire world at risk," says FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. "We commend Minister John Baird and the Canadian government for taking all possible steps to halt the proliferation of nuclear weapons, particularly by a country whose willingness to use them against perceived enemies cannot be doubted."

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center is a non-profit human rights organization committed to countering racism and antisemitism and to promoting the principles of tolerance, social justice and Canadian democratic values through advocacy and education.
