Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center Supports Ontario Court of Appeal Ruling to Extradite Hassan Diab to France

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 15, 2014) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) supports the decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal to uphold both lower court and federal rulings in favour of extraditing suspected terrorist Hassan Diab to France. France has requested Canada extradite Diab to stand trial for the 1980 bombing of a Paris synagogue in which four people were killed and dozens injured.

"The victims of this horrendous bombing attack and, indeed, all French citizens, have waited 34 years for justice to be done," noted FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. "Diab is the only suspect in this politically motivated attack, and Canadians have grown tired of providing him shelter. The French justice system is certainly capable of granting Diab a fair trial. It is time to send him to France to answer for his actions."
