From Dinosaurs to Big Deals, Four Trendsetters Make Venues Today Magazine 2007 "Hall of Headlines"

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - December 17, 2007) - Venues Today, the leading publication for the venue management industry, has released its annual "Hall of Headlines" awards, honoring the individuals and newsmakers who made an impact on the live entertainment industry.

-- The 2007 "Hall of Headlines" Award for Newsmaker went to Wes Westley,
CEO of the facility management firm SMG, for the sale of his company at a
record $631 million to American Capital. "This sale reflects the value big
business puts on the entire live entertainment industry and specifically
the arena, stadium, convention center and theater management end," said
Venues Today Publisher and Editor-In-Chief Linda Deckard.
-- The 2007 "Hall of Headlines" Award for Bookings went to Bruce
Mactaggart and Brad Parsons for "Walking with Dinosaurs - The Live
Experience." The show, designed for arenas, brings to life 15 large
animatronic dinosaurs, including a massive T-Rex that can see eye-to-eye
with fans in the nose-bleed seats. The show sold over a half-million
tickets and grossed $29 million in a 17-week period.
-- Creating a marketing buzz months before the opening of the new John
Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Va. won Larry Wilson the top award for
marketing. Wilson created excitement for his dazzling new college arena
with an e-mail newsletter titled "Keeping Up With The Joneses."
-- Rounding out the annual Venues Today "Hall of Headlines" was the award
for Concessions, given to Ken Young of Ovation Food Services. Young won the
2007 award for winning the contract to provide food services for three
speedways -- Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis, Memphis (Tenn.)
Motorsports Park and the Nashville (Tenn.) Super Speedway.

Deckard said, "There are many people in the venue management industry that are nominated for these awards, and rightly so because they are all extremely dedicated leaders in the business that make things happen."
