Front Street Capital's Summer Solstice Raises More Than $400,000 for Joe's Team, Benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre

Front Street Capital continues innovative fundraising event for Toronto's financial community

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 20, 2012) - On June 21, 2012, hundreds of key players in the Canadian financial and philanthropic community will gather at Liberty Grand to celebrate the beginning of summer while raising awareness and funds for Joe's Team Triathlon, benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

To assist in helping Joe's Team reach the $1 million fundraising goal, Front Street Capital (FSC) is hosting its second Summer Solstice, with all proceeds going directly to the Joe's Team Triathlon, funding cancer care and treatment at the Princess Margaret.

The Summer Solstice event, and team fundraising efforts, have already raised funds in excess of $400,000 in just two years.

"We are so pleased with the level of support we've received from our generous peers in the industry. It's a real testament to the vision and ongoing spirit of our friend Joe Finley," said Norm Lamarche, FSC partner and senior portfolio manager. "Joe believed that, given the opportunity, anyone can make a difference. Summer Solstice is our way of rallying with friends and business partners to make a significant difference in funding groundbreaking cancer research and advances in cancer care and treatment," he added.

About Joe's Team:

Joe's Team was founded on the basis of Joe Finley's unbelievable human spirit. After Joe's diagnosis with cancer and a mere six months after his first of many highly invasive cancer therapies, Joe completed his first sprint triathlon. Joe's desire for others to experience the same sense of accomplishment inspired him to approach the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation (PMHF) and set in motion Joe's Team Triathlon.

In just five years since its inception, Joe's Team has raised close to $5 million, making this the largest third party fundraiser for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the third largest fundraiser of any kind for the hospital. All proceeds go directly to fund the next breakthrough. Thanks to the fundraising endeavours of Joe's Team, the Head and Neck Translational Research Program, soon to become known officially as the Joe Finley Head and Neck Translational Research Program at the PMH, has grown from four to eighty-two clinicians and researchers.

Tickets to the Front Street Summer Solstice event ($75 in advance or $100 at the door) are available online at Questions about media, tickets, and/ or sponsorships should be directed to Tammy Cash, Director of Marketing, 416-915-2457.
