Frontera Copper Corporation Reconstitutes Board of Directors

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2009) - Frontera Copper Corp. ("Frontera") announced today the election of a new board of directors by the shareholder of Frontera. The new directors are all experienced Mexican businessmen, and reflect the shifting focus of the company from being a publicly traded company to a private mining company. The new board replaces the transitional board of Bryan Nethery, Gord Fretwell, Steve Vanry, and Rene Carriere, who served as directors for the company for the last three months as operations in Canada and the United States were reduced. The new board will consist of the following:

Gerardo Luis Cazenave-Tapie Isoard is an economist and is also a director of Grupo Intec, a Mexican publicly traded company.

Arturo Rosas Barrientos is a partner with the law firm of Rosas Y Asociados, S.C. located in Mexico City, Mexico.

Luis Alfonso Cervantes is a partner with the law firm of Cervantes, Aguilara Varez Y Sainz, S.C. located in Mexico City, Mexico practicing in the area of corporate law.

In addition, Frontera today accepted the resignation of Bryan Nethery as interim Chief Executive Officer, and announced the appointment of Gerardo Luis Cazenave-Tapie Isoard as the Chief Executive Officer of the company.

John Detmold, CEO of Invecture Group S.A. de C.V., the indirect shareholder of Frontera, personally extended his thanks to the outgoing board members for their service to Frontera over the past several months.
