Frontier Strategy Group's FrontierData Forecasts Two Months Ahead of IMF

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Nov 5, 2014) - Frontier Strategy Group (FSG), the leading emerging market information services and advisory firm, recently published findings from an analysis of its FrontierData forecasting performance relative to the global macroeconomic forecasts in the IMF's World Economic Outlook. FSG's proprietary forecasting methodology was found to be two months ahead of the IMF.

"FSG's forecasting methodology uses a monthly revision cadence to ensure we are ahead of changes in the external environment," said Nicole Goodman who leads FSG's FrontierData team. "This cadence allows us to quickly react to shifts in the economy to produce data that encompasses recent events and help companies set more accurate targets."

The IMF publishes global macroeconomic forecasts twice a year in their World Economic Outlook, typically in April and October. The most recent release of this database on October 7, 2014 included dramatic downward revisions, especially in Europe, which shocked investors and markets worldwide.

FSG's global forecasts from August match the IMF's October revision to 2.9%, meaning FSG clients were two months ahead of the curve.

"Our clients are senior executives in charge of managing businesses in extremely volatile regions across the world's emerging markets," said Richard Leggett, Chief Executive Officer of FSG. "It's critical that our forecasts are highly accurate to ensure our clients have the necessary information to make important business decisions to mitigate the impact of destabilizing events such as currency volatility and other macroeconomic disruptions."

FrontierData and FSG's newly released Data Explorer tool are two key elements of the FrontierView platform. The platform, which provides clients with access to all of the critical inputs that power emerging market decision-making, including data, analytics, research and expert advice, is one of two ways FSG supports its clients.

When clients require a hands-on approach, FSG's global team leverages FrontierView resources to design custom engagements scoped to the unique needs of each client. Custom engagements typically cover areas such as market planning and prioritization; market sizing and opportunity assessment; predictive modeling and scenario planning; and distribution performance management and channel transitions.
