Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Avaya as Leader in Unified Communications Markets

Avaya Named the Global Leader in the Audio Conferencing Bridge Market and the North American Leader in Enterprise Voice and Unified Messaging

BASKING RIDGE, NJ--(Marketwire - April 28, 2009) - Avaya, a global leader in business communications systems, software and services, today announced it has received Frost & Sullivan's 2009 North American Market Leadership Award for Enterprise Voice and Unified Messaging and the 2008 Global Market Leadership Award in the Audio Conferencing Bridge Market. Both honors are based on Avaya's dominant position in shipments and leading market share position in revenue.

Avaya has held the leadership position in enterprise voice and unified messaging for six years in a row by enabling customers to leverage their existing assets and by providing a robust, complete, and ever-evolving messaging solution. It is also the second year in a row that Avaya has held the leadership position in the global audio conferencing bridge market.

Both Frost & Sullivan leadership awards are based on the consulting firm's recent reports, which analyze market drivers, restraints, competitive issues, growth opportunities and key vendors for the enterprise voice and unified messaging market in North America and the global audio conferencing bridge market. These reports show that Avaya's market leadership in unified communications solutions is evidenced by its dominance in shipments and revenue generation for 2007-2009. In revenue generation, Avaya maintained the top positions with 27 percent of the audio conferencing bridge market and 25.2 percent of the enterprise voice and unified messaging markets, respectively.

"Avaya maintains its competitive position in the messaging and audio conferencing markets through a clear and non-disruptive migration path to its current portfolio and robust messaging and audio conferencing offerings," said Elka Popova, Program Director, Unified Communications, Frost & Sullivan.

Avaya's audio conferencing capabilities are found in Avaya Meeting Exchange, Avaya Web Conferencing, Avaya one-X® Portal and one-X Communicator. For voice and unified messaging, Avaya Modular Messaging is one of the industry's most robust and complete offerings in the market. It is joined by Avaya Message Store Server, Avaya one-X Speech, Speech-to-Text, and Avaya IP Office for small and mid-sized enterprises to make up Avaya's feature-rich, integrated unified messaging portfolio.

"Audio conferencing and unified messaging are bedrock elements in any unified communications strategy," said Michael Frendo, vice president and general manager, Unified Communications at Avaya. "For companies evolving their communications infrastructure, building on Avaya's flexible, market-proven solutions will provide them with significant return on investment and increased employee productivity."

Frost & Sullivan previously recognized Avaya for other achievements in the unified communications market, including the Enterprise Communications Applications Company of the Year.
