FT Pipeline Systems Underlines Benefits of Steel Specification for Different Pipe Systems

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - May 17, 2011) - FT Pipeline Systems, the leading UK provider of steel pipes, provides an extensive range with specifications to suit various customer requirements and pipe system scenarios. With quality and sustainability a high priority today, their steel pipes offer a comprehensive solution for many projects.

Steel pipes offer significant benefits with regard to pipeline projects. Available in various lengths, including 6, 12, 13 and 13.5m in accordance with European standards, they have a design life of 100 years. Furthermore, lengths of up to 18m are also available. They are ideal as water pipes for any ground conditions, contaminated or rocky and are especially suited to brownfield and high-pressure situations. A range of steel grades and wall thicknesses can be selected to suit different pressure requirements with diameters of 80mm through to 3000mm. Ensuring longevity, external corrosion protection with optional fibre cement casing provides protection against mechanical damage, allowing dug material to be used for back fill. In addition, welded joints provide a fully locked system, removing the need for thrust blocks. FT Pipeline's steel pipes are also regulation DWI 31 (4) (a) and DWI 25 (1) (a) approved.

The steel used in the pipes has test certificate to EN 10204/3, 1B. SAW spirally or longitudinally welded pipe. The material used is steel grade ST37, L235, API 5L Grade B, yield strength 235N/mm2 to BS 534. Other grades are available on request include: L275, X42, X52, X60, P235, P275.

Fittings are available to match the site requirements and a selection of coatings, linings and jointing options are offered to suit the particular requirements of the job and type of steel pipe. As well as producing a range of steel pipe products, FT Pipeline Systems will manufacture all types of welded fittings (bend tee, level invert tee etc.) to BS 534. The coating and pipelining of the welded fittings will be identical to the pipeline.

Duncan Frazer, Managing Director of FT Pipeline systems, said: "It is essential to match the correct specification of pipe to the requirements of the job. Our comprehensive range of steel pipes and complementary fittings are manufactured to a high specification, allowing customers to do that."
