IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - September 28, 2015) - At the 2015 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting in New York City, Fuel Freedom Foundation and IESE Business School announced a new education program as a CGI Commitment to Action that takes a ground-up approach toward reducing energy poverty on the African continent. The CGI 2015 Annual Meeting is hosted by the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, and Clinton Foundation Vice-Chair, Chelsea Clinton.
Yossie Hollander, Fuel Freedom Foundation Cofounder and Chairman, is representing at CGI to participate in high-level meetings and share the organizations' innovative approach to addressing long-term energy challenges in many African countries.
According to Hollander, "We are facing an extreme energy shortage globally. Access to affordable fuels would create significant and positive change in developing nations, and is achievable by fuel diversification -- which is why Fuel Freedom and IESE Business School are partnering to create an energy education and knowledge transfer program to address this issue."
In developing countries around the world, people do not have sufficient access to the energy they need for cooking, transportation, producing fertilizers, and electricity. They also lack the tools and knowledge to implement effective solutions. This new program will seek to remedy these problems by identifying potential gaps in management and policy approaches while simultaneously engaging stakeholders and experts in the developing countries themselves.
Beginning with Strathmore University in Kenya, the program will provide local capacity building via energy education and case method-based knowledge transfer that will provide local emerging leaders with regional and global perspectives. Further, this partnership and Commitment in Kenya is just the beginning of many similar curriculums that will grow throughout the world to address energy poverty.
