Fuhu's nabi Inspire Celebrates Autism Awareness Month With Major "Gifted 10K" Tablet Donation Initiative

Fuhu Kick-Starts Gifted 10K Program by Donating 350 nabi Tablets as Tools for Children With Autism to Communicate and Engage With Their Families

EL SEGUNDO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 2, 2014) - Fuhu, Inc., creator of the award-winning nabi® tablet -- the world's first Android tablet built just for kids -- announced today the donation of nabi Inspire tablets to 350 families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through the Gifted 10K program. As part of the nabi Inspire initiative, the Gifted 10K is a program that encourages the community to gift a nabi Inspire tablet to families living with autism that may not have access to one with the goal of raising enough funds to gift 10,000 nabi Inspire tablets.

Autism is a fast growing and prevalent disorder diagnosed in children and with medical costs and behavioral interventions estimated as much as $80,000 per year, many parents with children on the spectrum are often left in a predicament for lack of resources and tools. The Gifted 10K program is a solution for these families living with ASD that do not have access to the resources they need to own a nabi tablet to help children with autism to communicate, learn and play. In addition to making nabi Inspire tablets accessible, Fuhu will provide free autism-friendly apps throughout the month of April.

"Our goal has always been to deliver amazing and meaningful experiences for kids and their families," said Jim Mitchell, CEO of Fuhu. "When we heard from countless parents with children with autism that nabi tablet has made an positive impact that allows children to interact and connect with family members, we were compelled to get involved in the autism community to make a bigger impact. We are thrilled to gift nabi tablets to these children and families as a tool that can make a difference in their lives."

Fuhu launched nabi Inspire after receiving numerous feedback from parents that the nabi tablet was helping children with autism as a unique tool for interaction. Parents -- many of which have become "Inspire Family" advisors -- shared that their children were engaging in reciprocal play with their siblings and communicating with the nabi tablet.

Since the launch in 2012, Fuhu has partnered and is working closely with the HollyRod Foundation, a charity that helps improve the quality of life for families living with Autism. Through this partnership, funds will be raised to help gift nabi tablets to children living with autism. To date, Fuhu has made donations to HollyRod to support Say n' Play Camp sessions, the My Brother Charlie Fun Festival and a tech renovation for Speech & Language Therapy Center "Sibling" Room. Fuhu is also donating a percentage of accessory sales to help raise awareness and offer direct assistance to autism families.

"We have had an amazing year with Fuhu through the nabi Inspire program and it is always exciting to join forces with Fuhu to be in the forefront of raising awareness and support for families living with autism," said Holly Robinson Peete, founder of the HollyRod Foundation. "I have seen first-hand the incredible impact of nabi tablets that enable children living with autism to communicate and engage with their parents and siblings and I know through programs like Gifted 10K, we can continue to give families the support and tools they need."

In the coming year, the nabi Inspire campaign plans to nationalize the My Brother Charlie Family Fun Festival in cities across the U.S. and build a care center to service families living with autism. For more information, visit
