Fujifilm Companies Announce Aid to Haiti in Aftermath of Earthquake

VALHALLA, NY--(Marketwire - February 18, 2010) -  Ryutaro Hosoda, President and CEO of FUJIFILM Holdings America Corporation, has announced that Fujifilm companies in Japan and the United States have joined together in support of the people of Haiti following the earthquake that struck there on January 12. In total the Fujifilm companies have provided $400,000 in financial assistance and Fujifilm medical products and equipment.

"Fujifilm extends its condolences to the bereaved families following the major earthquake that struck the Republic of Haiti," said Mr. Hosoda. "We offer our sincerest sympathies to those affected by the disaster."

Fujifilm companies in the U.S. provided financial assistance to Hope for Haiti, a nonprofit group that has been based in Haiti for twenty years providing educational and social services to families and children. Stamford CT-based FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A. Inc., through a partnership with Stamford Hospital and AmeriCares, has donated a portable digital x-ray system to help clinicians struggling with a lack of diagnostic equipment to set patients' bones and diagnose and treat other medical conditions. Accompanying the equipment will be a Stamford Hospital x-ray technologist, who will train Haitian clinicians in the use of the system.

Fujifilm companies in Japan provided financial assistance and Fujifilm x-Ray film supplies to aid in the Haiti relief efforts through the Japan Platform Foundation, an international emergency humanitarian aid organization founded to provide assistance to major disasters and humanitarian crises by coordinating the efforts of non-governmental organizations, the business community and the government of Japan.
