Funambol v9 Simplifies Over-the-air Syncing of iPhone Pictures and Android Calendars via the Cloud

Also adds mobile signup and portal localization, and removes 90 day myFUNAMBOL portal limit

REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 19, 2011) - Funambol, the open source mobile cloud company, today introduced Funambol v9 to allow users to wirelessly sync iPhone pictures and Android calendars via the cloud. Funambol v9 simplifies over-the-air sharing of iPhone pictures with Flickr, Picasa, Facebook and PCs. It wirelessly syncs calendars on Android phones, tablets and devices with other cloud services and computers. The software provides on-device mobile signup with an easy three step setup process while on-the-go, without requiring a PC, and supports localization of the Funambol Portal into multiple languages. The release removes the 90 day limit on the myFUNAMBOL Portal to let users easily and freely sync and share contacts, calendars, pictures and more via the cloud.

"Our goal with v9 was to further enhance the availability of our sync solution by allowing users to sync and share mobile data and media over-the-air via the cloud, and to extend the reach of Funambol to an even larger customer base," said Amit Chawla, Funambol CEO. "Our service provider customers are excited about how our new mobile sign-up expands their 'Funambol powered' deployments by eliminating the need for desktop sign-up. Additionally, iPhone users will appreciate the ease of wirelessly sharing pictures compared to alternative commercial solutions. Android users will be offered an enhanced experience syncing calendars over-the-air with other cloud services and computers."

Funambol v9 is now available. For more about iPhone picture sync and downloading it from the App Store, visit http://www.funambol.com/solutions/iphone.php (requires iOS4). For details about syncing Android calendars, see http://www.funambol.com/solutions/android.php (scheduled to be available at the end of January, requires Android 2.2).
