Functional Technologies Strengthens Advisory Board with Addition of John Campbell

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 23, 2011) - Functional Technologies Corp. (TSX VENTURE:FEB) (the "Company") announced today that it has appointed Mr. John Campbell to its Advisory Board.

Possessing over 29 years of extensive experience in the investment industry, with significant expertise in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), Mr. Campbell is founder of and currently Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Camlin Asset Management Ltd., a mid-sized, management-owned investment firm based in Vancouver, Canada. Camlin's investment approach focuses primarily on undervalued small- to mid-sized companies that provide strategic value to other firms in their sectors or industries, and as such represent potential acquisition targets. Prior to founding Camlin, Mr. Campbell co-founded investment banking firm CWC Capital. Previously, he was also an M&A specialist with The Jim Pattison Group, one of Canada's largest private corporations, as well as a portfolio manager and U.S. securities analyst with a regional brokerage firm.

"Functional Technologies has the potential to become a global leader in enhanced yeast development. I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with my fellow Advisory Board members and management to assist the Company in the crystallization of a commercialization strategy," said Mr. Campbell.

"We are pleased that John Campbell has agreed to join our Advisory Board, complementing the participation of his fund in our most recent equity financing. The involvement of Mr. Campbell, which we consider significant given his professional history as well as the quality of Camlin and the criteria associated with their investment policies, corresponds well with the caliber of the other funds that have also invested in our Company," said Howard Louie, Chairman and CEO. "Functional Technologies is attracting considerable attention from multinational corporations in a number of food and beverage sectors. As we move forward on commercializing our technologies, Mr. Campbell's experience will greatly benefit the development and execution of strategic partnerships."

About Functional Technologies Corp.

Functional Technologies develops and commercializes proprietary, advanced yeast-based solutions to significant challenges in the food, beverage and healthcare industries. The Company's platform improves the performance of innate yeast functions, and prevents the formation of naturally occurring toxins and contaminants that either affect final product quality or are classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as probable human carcinogens. With a head office in Vancouver, Functional Technologies Corp. has R&D operations in Prince Edward Island and Europe, as well as a U.S. sales office in Napa Valley, California.
