Funding Announced for Repairs to Kaushee's Place

WHITEHORSE, YUKON--(Marketwired - Aug. 12, 2016) - Kaushee's Place Transition Home is receiving $160,000 towards capital improvements. Support for the funding was provided by the Yukon Housing Corporation and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) under the Social Infrastructure Fund Agreement.

"Our Government recognizes the ongoing need to provide women and children a safe place during crisis situations," said Larry Bagnell, Member of Parliament for Yukon, on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. "By investing in Kaushee's Place, we are also following through on our commitment to offer safe and affordable housing for all Canadians."

"Kaushee's Place provides a very valuable service for Yukon women and children seeking safety and peace of mind," said Stacey Hassard, Minister Responsible for Yukon Housing Corporation. "The funding supplement we are providing today will ensure the quality and longevity of shelter facilities."

The improvements will increase the energy efficiency of the building and extend the life of the structure.

"We are grateful for the funding and support to maintain the integrity and legacy of our building," said Barbara McInerney, Executive Director for Yukon Women's Transition Home.
