Funding From Government of Canada Helps Ropack Inc. Acquire Leading-Edge Equipment

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 15, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the firm Ropack Inc. has been granted funding to increase its productivity and strengthen its competitiveness.

"The Government of Canada believes in the importance of supporting enterprises like Ropack in their efforts to excel in growth-generating sectors. Moreover, this project is sure to help strengthen the competitive standing of the life sciences sector in the Montréal region," said Minister Lebel.

Adopting innovative technologies and new manufacturing processes will allow this enterprise, based in Montréal's east end, to bolster its productivity. To that end, Ropack will acquire ultra-high-performance equipment. The company's objective is to develop value-added solutions and manufacture a type of single-dose pouch for use in packaging humidity- and oxygen-sensitive products. Ropack will thus be in a better position to satisfy its clients' requirements, secure new contracts and increase its sales, particularly on export markets.

For some 35 years, Ropack had been providing contract packaging services, including the encapsulation, bottling, and pouch and sachet filling of various products like vitamins and cosmetics for clients in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and food sectors.

Information:

This repayable contribution of $1,200,000 has been granted through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program, whose objectives include helping enterprises improve their productivity through, among other things, the acquisition of equipment. Ropack will use this financial assistance to purchase the only equipment of its kind in Canada and set up five cleanrooms for the manufacture and packaging of its products.
