Funds2Orgs Expands Internationally

Inks Deals with New Strategic Partners on Several Continents

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwired - November 05, 2014) - Funds2Orgs, a for-profit social enterprise that promotes micro-enterprises in developing nations through shoe drive fundraisers, announced that it is expanding operations internationally. The company has signed deals to work with strategic partners in South America, Puerto Rico, Canada, Botswana, the United Kingdom and others.

One of the newly signed strategic partners is Easter Seals Ontario, which raised funds that benefit children with physical disabilities. Easter Seals assists families with the purchase of costly mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, porch lifts and ramps -- ultimately helping kids be kids. Easter Seals collected 20,405 pounds of shoes.

Another example comes from the Union of Jewish Women of South Africa, which raised funds to support its programs that include counseling, adult and youth education and meal programs across the Cape. A small group of women joined forces to collect 8,800 pounds of new and gently worn, used shoes.

Across the globe in Puerto Rico, Rayitos del Saber Homeschooling used a network of families in their homeschooling group to collect 18,750 pounds of shoes. The funds raised went toward off setting costs of a trip for the students in the group.

"We are excited about the international expansion," said Funds2Orgs founder and CEO Wayne Elsey. "We have had inquiries from other countries from the beginning, but we felt it was important to create the necessary infrastructure first."

Funds2Orgs works with schools, churches and charities to raise funds and engage volunteers by hosting local shoe drive fundraisers collecting gently worn, used and new shoes. Funds2Orgs pays these groups based on the number of pounds collected. Once consolidated and shipped, the shoes are sold to budding entrepreneurs in developing nations.

Up until now, the company primarily worked with domestic organizations to conduct local shoe drive fundraisers. The only difference between the domestic and international programs is offshore partners must collect a minimum of 10,000 pounds to participate, and only athletic shoes will be eligible.

Funds2Orgs recently announced the establishment of its new Microenterprise Shoe Training Depot located in Port au Prince, Haiti, where locals are provided with basic and business education classes in preparation to become entrepreneurs. They are then financed and mentored by Funds2Orgs' local personnel.
