GainSpan Strengthens R&D, Sales Management Team

Strategic Industry Appointments Bolster Team to Take Company to Next Phase of Development, Capitalize on Demand for Wi-Fi Connectivity

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - February 15, 2011) - GainSpan Corporation (, a leader in low power embedded Wi-Fi solutions, today announced it has strengthened its management team with the appointment of three industry executives:

  • Thai Nguyen, Vice President, Engineering
  • David Casey, Vice President, Worldwide Sales
  • Alan Kiltie, Director, European Sales

The strategic appointment of these senior level additions to the team is designed to help GainSpan scale its research and development efforts as it moves into development of its next generation Wi-Fi chip and to expand its sales operations around the world, building on the company's earlier successes in Japan and China. 

The new team joins GainSpan at a time when its momentum is accelerating due to rapid growth in the "Internet of Things," and the demand for connecting wirelessly to these "things" is increasing. With the simplicity and ease of use of the GainSpan solution, it is gaining solid ground and attracting companies around the world who want to web-enable all kinds of devices. 

New Appointments
Joining the GainSpan team to head up its engineering operation is long-time industry veteran, Thai Nguyen. With more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor and wireless industries building companies such as TZero Technologies, Quantenna Communications and Resonext Communications, Nguyen will spearhead the design and development of GainSpan's next generation Wi-Fi chip and module products.

Nguyen's career work includes development of MIMO RF products in sub-micron CMOS and LTCC technologies and delivering industry-leading 802.11 a/b/g direct conversion CMOS RFIC transceivers.

David Casey, former partner with international business consulting firm TW Partners, has joined GainSpan as Vice President of Worldwide sales. Casey will oversee all of GainSpan's global sales and partner activities, as well as scaling the sales activities of the company on a worldwide basis.

With over two decades of semiconductor sales experience, Casey brings to GainSpan an exemplary track record of success working with tier-1 customers in the mobile, computer and consumer markets. He also has an accomplished record of building global sales teams and distribution channels as well as penetrating new territories. Casey's experience includes executive sales positions at industry leaders like CMD, Alliance Semiconductor, Renesas and Hitachi Semiconductor.

Based in the U.K., wireless semiconductor veteran Alan Kiltie joins the team as Director of European Sales covering the EMEA region. Kiltie will focus on expanding GainSpan's growing business in the region and responding rapidly to the large opportunities in Europe for ultra low power Wi-Fi in markets such as Smart Energy and Personal Healthcare.

Having spent the majority of his career in international sales positions -- most recently at SRS Labs and at Wi-Fi company Nanoradio -- Kiltie has a record of establishing strong and profitable major account and channel relationships.
