Gambit Brings MIMIC Virtual Lab to iPhone and iPad

iCCNAlab App Creates Access to Simulated Lab for Cisco CCNA Certification Training

NASHUA, NH--(Marketwire - October 6, 2010) -  Gambit Communications®, the leading worldwide network simulation software vendor, today announced the immediate availability of the MIMIC Virtual Lab application for Apple iPhone and iPad. The app, called iCCNAlab, provides network engineers with convenient access to training tools for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification in an environment that mimics a real-world lab. With the iCCNAlab app, Gambit is making it easy for students, training providers and institutions alike to access a virtual practice lab of Cisco routers and switches to explore troubleshooting scenarios and apply classroom coursework at their own pace, anywhere, anytime.

Kaplan IT Learning, a leader in test preparation, has adopted Gambit's MIMIC Virtual Lab into its Cisco certification courses ensuring students the added choice and flexibility to practice their course work from anywhere. By including MIMIC Virtual Lab in its Cisco certification course material, they are able to provide hands-on training along with theoretical training.

"Having used Gambit's MIMIC Virtual Lab as a part of our CCNA curriculum for the last two years, we are happy to see this critical learning tool available on the iPhone and iPad," said April Browne, Director of Product Management at Kaplan IT Learning. "The powerful interface on the iCCNAlab app makes navigation through various devices quick and intuitive. It leverages the iPhone style well, and at the same time, showcases a wide range of devices, commands and tutorials. We think this app is something the students can truly embrace as a certification tool for use at anytime."

"We share our customers' excitement surrounding the iPad and iPhone and we moved quickly to support these ground breaking products with our award-winning network simulation tools," said Uwe Zimmermann, Gambit Communications' President and CTO. "MIMIC's highly flexible architecture enables us to continue our long history of creating various network device simulations and we are excited about pioneering its use for Cisco certification."

MIMIC Virtual Lab lets users experiment without worrying about misconfiguring the device or the network at a fraction of the cost. MIMIC also helps increase efficiencies and confidence as well as reduce network configuration errors. The iPhone and iPad make an ideal platform to extend access to the MIMIC Virtual Lab and deliver the most up-to-date certification tools when and where needed. The iCCNAlab app is available at no cost in the iTunes App Store.
