Game Day Chef Challenge Finalists Set for Arizona Region

Live Cook-Off to Be Held Prior to Cardinals-Eagles Game Oct. 26

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Oct 23, 2014) - The next phase of the Game Day Chef Challenge has begun, with the selection of finalists from each of the five regions, including Arizona. The contest, sponsored by Chevron, is a fun and innovative cooking competition in which football fans and foodies vie for a $25,000 Grand Prize and bragging rights to the best game-day recipe.

The unique hook is that each contestant's go-to recipe must include at least one food or beverage item purchased from a Chevron or Texaco station.

Five finalists from among the top 15 vote recipients in each region were selected by a panel of judges to compete in the regional cook-offs of the Game Day Chef Challenge. One winner from each region will advance to the Grand Finale hosted at the Rose Bowl Stadium on January 1, 2015, where the grand prize winner will receive $25,000 in Chevron with Techron Promotional Cards and be crowned the "2014 Game Day Chef Champion."

In the Arizona Region, the following finalists will compete in a live cook-off event to be held at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale prior to kick-off of the Arizona Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Eagles football game on October 26 (listed alphabetically):

  • Miguel Beltran, preparing his Orange Fanta Burger Dog
  • Suzanne Clark, with her submission Fueled Up Game Day Crispy Chicken Sandwiches
  • Aaron Moon, and his BBQ Twinkie Dog
  • Donna Reese, serving up Super Burgers, Coke Onions and Whimsical Relish
  • Michelle Wiederhold, with Pork Rind and Potato Chip Crusted Fish and Chips

Fans attending the Cardinals game on October 26 are encouraged to stop by the Game Day Chef Challenge set-up on the Great Lawn to take in the action. The Great Lawn opens at 9:00am and the cook-off portion of the event will begin at 11:00am. In conjunction with St. Mary's Food Bank, Chevron will be conducting a food drive in which the first 100 fans that bring a non-perishable food item will receive a $5.00 Chevron promotional card.

In addition, Chevron and the Game Day Chef Challenge are rolling out the red carpet for three celebrity judges (listed alphabetically):

  • Mark Ahser - host of AshTags and longtime Phoenix radio personality
  • Chris Bianco - Chef and Owner of Bianco Restaurants in Phoenix and Tucson
  • Todd Heap - former ASU and Arizona Cardinals tight end
