Game Lovers Dying for the Arrival of Plants vs. Zombies™ on WorldWinner

Get Ready to Battle Zombies for Cash and Prizes in Skill-Based Version of PopCap's Newest Strategy Game

NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS and SEATTLE, WASHINGTON--(Marketwire - July 21, 2009) - WorldWinner (, a subsidiary of GSN and provider of online game competitions, today announced that it will develop a cash game version of PopCap's critically-acclaimed Plants vs. Zombies(TM). The fastest-selling game in PopCap's history, Plants vs. Zombies is a new game in which players frantically use plants as weapons and obstacles to defend their homes against a variety of oncoming zombies. Beginning in early 2010, WorldWinner players will be able to join the fun, competing against other zombie-slayers to win cash and prizes for achieving high scores.

In Plants vs. Zombies, more than two dozen types of zany zombies attempt to invade players' homes, and the only defense is zombie-zapping plant life positioned in the front yard. Using peashooters, wall-nuts and cherry bombs (and more than 40 other kinds of specialized zombie-combating flora), players attempt to stop legions of zombies before they reach the front door. Each zombie is equipped with special skills, challenging players to think on their feet and act quickly - all while overcoming additional challenges like a setting sun, creeping fog and a swimming pool.

"Plants vs. Zombies is a recipe for success with WorldWinner players: it's quick to learn, but difficult to master, and our players love a challenge," said Peter Blacklow, president of WorldWinner and EVP of GSN Digital. "The game joins several other engaging PopCap titles which have become some of the most popular games on WorldWinner. We're looking forward to knocking out zombies as the next step in our successful partnership."

"Plants vs. Zombies has been wildly successful thus far and has thrilled both existing casual games fans and hardcore gamers alike," said Sukhbir Sidhu, Executive Producer and Studio Chief at PopCap. "Creating a WorldWinner cash version is a perfect fit for the competitive nature of this game - it adds a bounty hunting element to the thrill of protecting your home from the walking dead."

WorldWinner has developed cash competition versions of PopCap titles including Bejeweled(R) 2, Bejeweled Twist(TM), Big Money, Bookworm, Chuzzle, Dynomite!, Mystery PI(TM) and Zuma. These cash competition games offer players an exciting combination of the instant fun for which PopCap games are famous, and the adrenaline-charged atmosphere created by WorldWinner's tournament platform. Plants vs. Zombies is currently available at, and will be available at and WorldWinner's partner sites in early 2010.
