Gaming Standards Association Poses Three Crucial Questions Casino Operators Should Ask Their IT Department Today

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - February 8, 2010) -  At the end of 2009, GSA formally ended its support for the SAS protocol. The organization will now focus all its resources on assisting operators to migrate away from SAS and towards the more capable G2S protocol by suggesting three important questions that can help prepare them for the transition:

  1. Now that SAS is no longer supported, where do we go from here?
  2. Which suppliers can provide us with non-SAS products?
  3. Is our IT team up to speed on the GSA protocols?

GSA Technical Director Marc McDermott said, "While SAS will continue to be an important protocol for some years yet, GSA has decided to focus on G2S as the sole protocol to be used from the EGM to the back of house systems. The new features and capabilities available with G2S will provide the building blocks that will move the gaming industry to a new level of technology. As the new technology will definitely have an impact on any gaming operation, we want to help operators prepare for tomorrow with some questions they should be thinking about today. The answers to these key questions provide the first step in moving an operation towards the technology of the future and the pathway to success."

If your company is a casino operator, consider joining GSA's OAC (Operator Advisory Committee) to join the discussion. For a look at brief answers to these questions, visit www.gamingstandards.com.
