Gandi to Award Free Hosting to the Winning #Hack4Good Projects

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 7, 2014) - Leading domain name register and hosting provider is awarding free hosting to the winners of #hack4good 0.5, taking place February 7-9 in San Francisco and in over 20 other cities worldwide. #Hack4Good, created by Geeklist, was established to unite geeks with the goal of leaving humanity a little better off than before. Starting Friday at 7 pm local time, participants will direct their skills and passion to one of 50+ challenges presented/nominated by local and global non-government organizations, addressing needs like disaster response, education and information access.

"At Geeklist #hack4good, participants are presented with problems, form teams of 2-6 individuals and solve these problems using each of our individual strengths in technology and entrepreneurship," said Reuben Katz, CEO of Geeklist. "We help products built at our hackathons live on and progress beyond the event and we are pleased to count Gandi among those who support our ability to do so."

The #hack4good 0.5 is expected to bring together over 1,500 developers, project managers and designers from around the world. Gandi will be providing the top three teams from each city (over 60 projects) with 150k web hosting credits and the winners from each city a free domain to implement their projects.

"At Gandi, we're committed to supporting free and unrestricted sharing of information; #hack4good hackathons provide participants and society the means to realize the potential of this principle," said Thomas Stocking, COO, Gandi USA, and an event judge. "We're delighted to be supporting #hack4good again, and have high expectations based on our phenomenal experience sponsoring #hack4good 0.4."
