Garda Lauds Police for Success of "Project Garda" and Apprehension of Five Suspects in Richmond Hill Theft

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA--(Marketwire - May 4, 2009) - Garda Security Group, a subsidiary of Garda World Security Corporation (TSX:GW) (Garda), one of the most trusted consulting, investigation and security firms in the world, today thanked York Regional Police and the Surete du Quebec for their outstanding efforts in identifying and apprehending suspects wanted in connection with a theft from one of its armored trucks in Richmond Hill, a suburb of Toronto, on Thursday, February 6, 2009.

On Wednesday, April 29, 2009, York Regional Police and Surete du Quebec executed a number of Criminal Code search warrants in both Toronto and Montreal, arresting five people and seizing cash and a number of items purchased with the stolen funds, including expensive vehicles, a boat and jewelry.

Today, Armand La Barge, Chief of York Regional Police, announced that the successful completion of Project Garda, as the investigation was called, also prevented those arrested from committing another robbery that was being planned at the time of their apprehension.
