Gartner Analyst Cites Strengths and Challenges for Oracle, SAP and Workday in HR Cloud System Battle

Ron Hanscome Advises 'Firing Line with Bill Kutik' Viewers How They Can Save 30% on Whichever Company's HCM System They Finally Select

WESTPORT, CT--(Marketwired - Sep 15, 2015) - Gartner's top HR technology analyst points out the strengths and challenges of the Big Three vendors -- Oracle, SAP and Workday -- in their heated competition for large company customers in the HR cloud software market on the next edition of Firing Line with Bill Kutik® beginning on YouTube today.

Gartner Research VP Ron Hanscome also warns that organizations that do not involve their IT contract negotiation resources in making cloud system purchase decisions run the risk of paying as much as 30 percent more for the technology.

Appearing on the eighth edition of the new web video series, Hanscome cautions HR organizations against going it alone when evaluating a system from one of the vendors -- Oracle, SAP and Workday -- that dominate the HCM system large company market.

Comparing and contrasting the three competitors, Hanscome notes customer choice offered by Oracle as a key strength. He cites breadth and depth delivered across all talent modules and extensibility options as important characteristics of solutions from SAP and SuccessFactors, an SAP company. He identifies Workday's natively developed suite of applications as the special quality of that company's offering.

Offering general advice on choosing a vendor, Hanscome emphasized that "when you start thinking about cost implications, it's really important to involve your sourcing, IT contract negotiation resources in this deal."

"If you don't, if you're an HR organization that goes on its own, we estimate that you could pay as much as 30 percent more than if you involved your sourcing people early and often," Hanscome tells Kutik.

"Ron Hanscome plainly tells viewers the strengths and challenges of each vendor and its cloud system," Bill Kutik, host and managing editor of Firing Line with Bill Kutik® said. "Many companies are facing this complicated and very important decision right now, so his insight and advice, based on his major Gartner research report, comes at the perfect time."

The monthly "Firing Line" series has received more than 16,500 views on YouTube since its debut.

SAP (NYSE: SAP) is the inaugural sponsor of Firing Line with Bill Kutik®, and other vendors will be sponsoring in the future.
