Gas Cracker Project Will Build Assam's Economy, an Industrial Info News Alert

DELHI, INDIA--(Marketwire - January 10, 2011) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), a joint venture led by GAIL (India) Limited (BSE:532155) (New Delhi, India), is implementing the "Assam Gas Cracker Project" by setting up a $1.2 billion petrochemical complex in Lepetkata, Assam. The initial planning phase started in 2007, and the project is scheduled to be commissioned in April 2012. However, due to delays in getting the environmental clearance from the state government, work was delayed by months. Now it is expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2012, and construction of civil work is under way. BCPL has already incurred $9.24 million of the capital expenditure.
