Gateway Gold Corp.: Crusher Zone Expanded

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 18, 2005) - Gateway Gold Corp. (the "Company") (TSX:GTQ) is pleased to announce the results of further drilling on the prospective Crusher Zone at its Big Springs gold project in Nevada. As a follow-up to two successful holes drilled early in the season, thirteen additional holes were drilled to further define the grade, continuity and orientation of the several mineralized structures that comprise the Crusher Zone. Significant gold mineralization was intersected in the follow-up drilling which has established a predictive geologic model to guide future drilling. "Although substantially more drilling will be required to fully assess the economic potential of the Crusher Zone, the initial results suggest that an important gold resource can be established in the Crusher Zone", commented Michael McInnis, President of Gateway. "The mineralization begins at surface and most drill intercepts are shallow, which have obvious implications respecting the possible mining methods".

The Crusher Zone is located approximately 300 metres northeast of the former North Sammy open pit mine. The Zone lies within a northeasterly trending structural corridor that includes the North Sammy mineralization.

A tabulation of the holes within the Crusher Zone that intersected a minimum grade of 0.10 ounces per ton gold over 5 feet are reported in the table below. For completeness, holes GW05-166 and 172, which were reported earlier, and the holes drilled by the former operator (the "SC" holes) are included. The intervals reported are drilled intervals and may not represent true widths.
