GBP 2.2 Fitness First Opens Brand New London Gym in Former Arsenal Stadium

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - June 23, 2011) - A location, revered in football history is set to become the home for Fitness First's newest and most luxurious health club at Arsenal's former stadium, Highbury.

A trophy in the cabinet for the Fitness First group, this Black Label Club (the premier league of Fitness First clubs) became the latest flagship gym when it opened this month.

"Members will feel like VIPs when using the new London gym set within the grounds of Arsenal's old stadium," said Martin Seibold, chief operating officer at Fitness First. "Beneath the location of the old football pitch you will find the swimming pool and spa area with a unique glass roof, which above ground, forms part of Highbury Square's landscaped gardens."

Over £2.2 million has been invested in the new health club which provides new members with more than 20,000 sq ft of workout space. Members can benefit from the state of the art fitness suite with the latest range of Life Fitness and Technogym exercise machines to help lose weight and shape up, or the stunning group exercise studio and separate group cycling studio. The club offers one of the widest ranges of exercise classes and spin classes in the capital including popular sessions such as Zumba and Fitness First's very own Get Fit with Mel B class.

The new health club houses a freestyle area, exclusive to Fitness First, where members can use the latest developments in fitness equipment and techniques such as 'functional training' which encourages free movement to aid body toning. Members can use this designated space either on their own, or with the assistance of a personal trainer. Some of the leading tools in the fitness industry such as ViPRs, TRX bands, Kettle Bells and Power Plates will be readily available to use for all members to try.

The new club hosted an open week from June 1st-5th where people could take a sneak peek around the club before it officially opened on June 6. To celebrate the opening, the club will be holding a launch party on June 23rd which will include a champagne reception, a schedule of gym challenges, special prizes and giveaways and celebrity guest appearances from former Arsenal legends, Charlie George and Nigel Winterburn.
