GE CANADA CELEBRATES NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, Education Editor, News Editor MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 19, 2005) - In celebration of Canada's National Volunteer Week, GE Canada will host a volunteer fair today featuring 7 local community partners. The event will recognize all GE employee volunteers who contribute to our communities every day and help raise awareness of the volunteer opportunities that exist within our community.

Community partners will have booths set-up up to help attract new volunteers. The kick-off takes place at the GE Canada headquarters in Mississauga starting at 11 a.m. with a welcome address from GE Canada's newly appointed President and CEO, Elyse Allan.

GE's community partners at the volunteer fair include:

* Supportive Housing of Peel
* Volunteer Centre of Peel
* The Salvation Army
* Habitat for Humanity
* Big Brothers/Big Sisters
* Junior Achievement
* Living Arts Centre

This volunteer fair will also honour GE Canada's internal volunteer groups, which include: GE Elfun volunteers, GE's Diversity Council, First Aid Committee, Women's Network and the Joint Health and Safety Committee. A fashion place will take place at 12:30 p.m. to showcase all of GE's personal protective equipment.
