Geezeo, an online provider of free tools and social communities that help consumers manage their personal finances, today introduced Geezeo Tags. With Geezeo Tags, users' debit and credit card transactions are automatically "tagged" with customized categories, making it simple for users to track their spending in entirely new ways.

Users can also create their own Geezeo Tags, whether using standard categories, such as rent, utilities or auto, or more creative groups, such as dating, girlsnightout or gadgets.

"Geezeo Tags allows users to see exactly where all of their money goes and to use that knowledge to make more educated financial decisions," said Geezeo co-founder Shawn Ward. "It's easy for people to say they want to spend less money on food each month, but until they know exactly how much they are spending, there is no way to track your progress."

After transactions have been assigned tags, Geezeo presents users with easy to read graphs based on those tags, for a visual depiction of where they are spending their money each month.

Geezeo gives users free access to traditional money management tools at no cost on any computer and in a community-based environment. Prior to Geezeo Tags, the company launched Geezeo Mobile in May 2007, a free, first-of-its-kind service that allows users to check all of their bank and credit card balances via text-message. Geezeo also provides community-based forums where users can share financial tips and discuss shared experiences.

"One of the greatest hurdles for people to overcome with traditional personal finance software is getting started. We want to take the pain out of managing your money," said Geezeo co-founder Peter Glyman. "Giving our users a fun and easy way to keep track of all of their expenses is going to be a great continuation of that mission."
