GEM Health Care Services: New Home Health Care Service Opens in Newmarket

NEWMARKET, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 20, 2009) - The opening of GEM Health Care Services, Newmarket was announced today by president and owner Sue Bauer.

Ms. Bauer has been a long-time resident in York Region and takes over 20 years of successful business experience into the home health care industry.

GEM Health Care Services, Newmarket, is a franchise of GEM Health Care Services Inc. established in Ottawa, in 1994 by company founder, president and CEO Gaye E. Moffett, RN, B.Sc.N, M.Ed. GEM Health Care Services Inc. has grown to be one of the largest, independent and privately-owned health care agencies in Canada. It was one of the first health care agencies of its kind to be accredited by Accreditation Canada (formerly the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation), an independent non-profit organizationthat sets rigorous standards for health services.

"I am very pleased to see GEM Health Care Services expand into the Toronto GTA, says Ms. Moffett. "We congratulate Sue on her opening and we know that she will provide her clients with the highest quality of care."

Ms. Bauer notes that, "GEM Health Care Services specializes in private, home and palliative care services, addressing both medical and non-medical needs. We also provide high quality medical institutional relief staffing. We promise to provide dedicated, compassionate caregivers, from registered nurses to personal support workers and/or sitters/companions to help families here in York Region, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year."

"In this day and age, the demand for quality health care is growing rapidly," says Barry Kuntz, chair of the Canadian Medic Alert Foundation. "The Canadian population is aging and the first "boomers" will reach the age of 65 in 2011, bringing with them a more diverse set of health needs than any other generation. The opening of GEM Health Care Services in Newmarket is very timely."
