Gemcom Releases Mine Performance Management Solution Gemcom InSite 2.0

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 7, 2006) - Gemcom Software International Inc. (TSX:GCM), a global provider of mining software and service solutions, today announced the release of Gemcom InSite 2.0, the latest version of its industry-leading mine performance management solution. InSite delivers planning and production information to the enterprise through a highly-flexible web portal that draws upon a single source of integrated data. These capabilities also enable standardisation of corporate reporting and the overall evaluation of mining operations.

"InSite has been developed to help mining companies address some the key challenges they are facing, such as the increasing globalisation of operations, an acute shortage of technical skills, the drive for continuous improvement, and compliance assurance," said Peter Orr, Senior Product Manager for InSite.

The system enables companies to meet these challenges by providing web-based access to:

- Global key performance indicators.

- A comprehensive view of operational performance including production metrics, cost measures, safety and environmental indicators.

- Role specific decision-support knowledge.

- InSite's database - an integrated and validated central source of data drawn from mine planning and production systems from across the value chain.

- Automated reports.

With the addition of the latest business intelligence technology to the system's unique data architecture (which has been developed in partnership with the industry over a period of 15 years), users can answer complex questions such as 'Why is production declining?' and 'What's driving increased production costs?' InSite also provides data security, a rules-based approach to data management, and robust, auditable processes to support compliance program requirements governing the compilation of production data used in financial reports.

"InSite is a key area of Gemcom's software and service business. Each implementation of the platform can be tailored to support the unique business goals and challenges of each mining operation, while enabling the standardisation of corporate reporting and the overall evaluation of mining operations," said Rick Moignard, Gemcom's President and CEO. "InSite is generating tremendous interest all over the world. We have recently completed implementations in Africa and Asia, with more underway.

With offices in 20 locations around the world, and a client base that is the largest in the industry following its recent acquisition of Surpac Minex Group, Gemcom sees significant opportunities to increase InSite's penetration in the global market.
